316748 2005-01-21 19:54:00 Read about this in a magazine (not sure if it's been mentioned here - I haven't seen it). You can use your GMail account as an online drive, accessible through Windows Explorer or from Linux. Only a small download is required (well I'm not sure about the Linux version, as I haven't tried it), and it works quite well (wouldn't be that useful on dial-up I imagine).

316750 2005-01-21 23:38:00 Another use that I put a Gmail account to, is automatic backup of all emails.

I simply put a divert (but keep a copy) rule in my ISP webmail access to the POP3 email, and put the Gmail address in the field.

I never bother to use that Gmail address actively, but it now contains a copy of all incoming emails. 1 GB should last a year or so with attachements. It means I can access all my emails at any internet cafe etc.

If I want to, I can also have it archive my outgoing emails by using BCC: at my end.

And the price is right as well.
