Re male-female equivalence on the richter scale, where M=1 and F=1500, perhaps it may be due to the different perspective of the female of the species. For her it is more likely to be both an emotional and a physical experience, where mind and body act in concert. For the average male however, more often than not it is a physical matter only, with a certain degree of single-mindedness behind it :horrified .
