| 638714 | 2008-02-08 19:54:00 | I have uploaded a load of PDF files to a folder on my server which I would like to share with people from my college course group. Simple question really... I have uploaded them but cannot view them online when I type in www.myservername.com I just get the message 'Error 403 - Forbidden. You tried to access a document for which you don't have privileges.' I have checked the folder attributes via FlashFXP and they seem fine, so how do I do it? Also, is there a way of password protecting access to the folder so that nobody else can access it? The users the files are intended for are all computer beginners, so will not be savvy with any FTP software - I need to keep this as simple as possible! ;) |

Alternatively the person going on the server will need to know the exact filename www.myservername.com Depending on your server but you can set up login/password access to it. If you are running mysql or an sql database you can set users up for L/P and file access. If it is on your home machine you may have to get the folder permissions correct in your web server. |
