2008-02-08 08:17:00 | When I Try to install windows vista home premium on my pc, it gets almost complete and restarts. It says the message windows failed to start ndisrd.sys missing or corrupt and displays the error code 0xc0000098. Any Ideas? I have all the minimum requirements for vista and I am using a external DVD Drive. I am 11 years old and I got vista for my birthday and mum and step dad has just spent alot of money on it and i am really upset, so please could you help me. I have a computer running XP Home Service Pack 2 and 760MB Ram and 1.9Ghz Procssor and it has a 30GB Hard Drive with 20GB of Space and it is the upgrade version of vista home premium. | Jack Greenhill (13386) | |

2008-02-08 08:31:00 | That file ndisrd.sys looks like it belongs to a worm. Its not part of Vista Altho, it may not affect Vista. Doing a search in Google, some people say its not part of Vista. And most entries say it belongs to a Spyware worm I maybe wrong. Any Vista users want to check and see if this file is part of Vista. Other than that try an IDE DVD.

2008-02-08 08:37:00 | I looked around, and it's either what Speedy suggested, or the system cannot access certain services. Could be related to the external drive. Is it a clean install? Try a built-in drive, maybe you can't install it from an external one.

2008-02-08 08:38:00 | ndisrd.exe doesn't exist in my system. Which reminds me, I think I cleaned up my neighbour's PC of a similar worm. | qazwsxokmijn (102) | |

What the Minimum Spec's say and what will actually work sometimes is different. I think he said it in the 1st post XP Home Service Pack 2 and 760MB Ram and 1.9Ghz Processor and it has a 30GB Hard Drive with 20GB of Space and it is the upgrade version of vista home premium. I dont think thats enough for Vista |
