317735 2005-01-25 02:10:00 I was going to dig around and see if the two companies are related (same director perhaps)... but unusually (and rather worryingly), Playtech do not appear on the Companies Register (http://www.companies.govt.nz). Anyone know if there would be a legitimate reason for this? Can they operate and promote themselves as a limited liability company at all without being registered or incorporated? pixeldust (6619)
317736 2005-01-25 02:56:00 'Play Technology' refers to TMC Computer LTD T/A Play Technology.
'The Customer' refers to any legal entity purchasing from Play Technology.

Maybe they've just been copying and pasting content from other sites to save writing their own? I know that QMB did have a T&C page which mentions "Eden computers".

317737 2005-01-25 03:15:00 QMB at one point had a terms of service that referred to themselves as Creative numerous times.....

Lmao.

For mine i just grabbed a few examples off other sites and re-wrote to suit, Though I did take the time to make sure the company name was correct before publiushing it....

317738 2005-01-25 04:09:00 Why not email Playtech and ask them about the references to Ascent in their policy? At least it would bring it to their attention. I would hope they also have the secure technology that they claim they do if that policy was a simple copy and paste of Ascents. Jen (38)
317739 2005-01-25 04:15:00 I wrote mine from scratch.

But if they didn't want to / weren't capable of that, then honestly, don't they know of Find & Replace?

Could you tell me what the problem is?

I don't use them and therefore have no problems.

I am very unlikely to use Ascent but that is only as I don't live anywhere near them. I have nothing against them.

I live in Tokoroa and have bought heaps of hardware from PBTECH in Hamilton. The last time I posted on the same sort of subject I had to return a Modem which did not work. A replacement was given immediately. Since then I have had to ask for replacements for 3 RAM sticks and one was out of warranty. Got replacements for the two that were not. I have also bought hardware from PBTECH in Auckland at times.

Both stores in my opinion know what they are doing.

Fair enough I thought.

What is the point of your thread?

Still the same people. TMC is just trading with a new name as Playtech. But legally speaking, they are still TMC.

Quote from their phone system, "Welcome to TMC Computers, trading as Playtech.."

Did somebody ring those guys? They seem to have got rid of it...

Elephant, I was raising the issue which I believed was rather humorous. Playtech clearly copied their privacy policy from Ascent. It said:
Checkout is done via a secure server. In addition, your credit card number is encrypted as it travels to our ordering system. To ensure that your information is even more secure, once we receive your credit card information, we store it on a server that isn't accessible from the Internet. If you feel more comfortable doing so, you are welcome to call in your credit card information and complete your purchase by phone. The funny thing is -if you still dont get it - that Playtech sells their stuff, but is not responsible for any financial stuff-ups which would mean a loss to them. Instead, they say Ascent is responsible.
