| 317243 | 2005-01-23 06:38:00 | hey there, i think i have just stuffed my phone, its a nokia 2280. i accidentally droped it in water, and now it isnt going. I ripped off the face plate and i have put it in the hot water cupboard for the last day and a half to dry it out and it still isnt going. When i try to turn it on, the backlight turns on and after 5 seconds it turns off, i cant see anything on the screen. what can i do?, is there any way to save it? or is it time for a new phone, ive had a look around on trademe (becuase i dont wanna buy new because it may happen again [i live on a farm and i use it on the farm]) i saw a GTRAN 4020, has anyone got one of these? what are they like? |

Faceplate level stripping may not be far enough (but specialised tools needed to go further usually) I have successfully revived one that fell in a milk vat. Stripped right down to circuit board level, washed in warm water, then in WD40, then dried for a couple of days. Went for years afterwards. |

| 317246 | 2005-01-23 07:24:00 | Sarah had her cellphone water damaged. We opened it up, dried all the excess water with a tea-towel, then stuck the opened up phone in the hot-water cupboard for about 1 or 2 weeks, and then tried it out (successfully). A couple of days might not do it. Mike. |

But it never rains in the advertising/marketing world, does it? I love the advertising pictures of people with their laptops at the beach, or the tiny digital cameras tucked into bikini pants. (Though I suppose the bikini isn't meant to get wet either). |
