639711 2008-02-12 07:34:00 Does anyone know of any wireless routers that support multiple SSID's?

What I am looking for is a device that will allow guests access to the internet but not to any other device on the network including other wireless clients.

It also needs to allow users on the non-guest SSID access to the network as well as internet.

Thanks in advance.

639712 2008-02-12 08:01:00 Hi Tricky

Check out Belkin's N1 Vision router - this is from a CNET review:

The final feature we really liked was the ability to set up protected guest access. The router creates a separate SSID so guests can establish an Internet connection but can't access other locations on your network, such as PCs or network-attached storage drives. This feature also generates a guest password (you can create one yourself or ask the configuration page to generate one for you) that is displayed on the router's LCD for easy reference.

Do you need 802.11N? Are you planning to use it for an internet hotspot?

639713 2008-02-12 08:20:00 Hi, I dont need 802.11N. It will be for password protected guest access in a small hotel.

I read about this router in the PC World magazine and it looks like a good one thus far, but I was wondering if there was any others on the market that also offered this feature.

639714 2008-02-12 11:45:00 A quick google turned up the following tutorial which answers most of your questions
"Implementing Inexpensive Multiple SSID Networks: Part I" (www.wi-fiplanet.com).
The articles mentions three such routers
* D-Link DWL-2200AP
* SMC 2552W-G2
* Linksys WAP200
as well as a free firmware replacement that brings Multiple SSID's and more to compatible routers.

From my searches it seems the Linksys WAP200 is available in NZ, but the D-Link DWL-2200AP isn't .

Thanks for piquing my curiosity!
