639643 2008-02-12 05:09:00 Hey everyone.

I have a trendsonic shinobi pc case and I accidently broke the little bracket thing which holds pci/pci-e devices in place. Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement or does anyone want to sell me one or something ><

Thanks.

639644 2008-02-12 05:20:00 use a Screw to hold in the PCI card, most cases have the screw Holes available. wainuitech (129)
639645 2008-02-12 05:29:00 It appears to have big dents where screw holes are spose to be but there is metal covering them. CaptainVincent (76)
639646 2008-02-12 08:23:00 I just had a look at my Shinobi case, Is this the same one as yours Here (www.imagef1.net.nz(small).jpg) If so its actually a Excel ATX Shinobi (www.imagef1.net.nz) I have one of them as my windows Home Server.

IF this is what you have - How in the blue blazes did you break the retainer ?? You simply unscrew the two retaining screws Rear Retainer picture (www.imagef1.net.nz), and this Whole Unit / inside (www.imagef1.net.nz) as this holds in any cards, and simply pulls away. Its all One piece, you then pop out the blanks, or if you look closely at the pictures of mine you will see there is an additional blank added in the top.

Is this what is broken or is it a totally different case ? Mine has the Trendsonic Label top left as well as showing in the case Picture ????

IF these are the cases, you can call Protac (http://www.protacnz.co.nz/) in Auckland, they may be able to help you, then again they may not.

639647 2008-02-12 18:45:00 Yeah it's the retainer I broke. When you go to secure a pci-e card it doesn't fully slot back on and not allowing you to screw it back on. I'm just dying to get another one of those things, My 8800gts is on a lean without one. CaptainVincent (76)
639648 2008-02-13 08:59:00 I pulled the retainer out of the Case I have here to have a look at it.:illogical The retainer is reasonably solid, it would take a fair amount of brute force to damage it, apart from the two small locating clips, which are only guides anyway.

Can you possibly post back a picture of the damage, there may be a way to repair it.

639649 2008-02-13 09:25:00 Sorry I have no camera or anything. The whoel thing snapped in half though. Can't be fixed. Have you tried putting a pci-e card in the slot, When I did it doesn't slot on enough ><. CaptainVincent (76)
639650 2008-02-13 09:38:00 The one I have is a server and doesn't require a graphic Card, no need for "great Graphics" on a server which has the display off 99.9 % of the time so onboard id fine for my purposes.

BUT The Board does have a PCI-E slot, so I'll look at it tomorrow (Thursday) and let you know what happens / any problems.

639652 2008-02-14 22:33:00 had a look at the Case with a PCI-E Card - it was a little "Snug" but it did go in OK. Sometimes if you look at the cards, the "leg" may need a slight Tweek to get it to seat correctly. If you look at This here (www.imagef1.net.nz), it shows the card installed and sitting fine - its not a powerful card as I don't have one handy at the moment, BUT you can see its sitting correctly with no "clamping".

Once the Retainer was installed / Replaced - things got a bit tight - if It was going in to use I would have bent the "lug" thats Hitting the Card (www.imagef1.net.nz).

Looking at the Retaing Plate (www.imagef1.net.nz) - I'm still trying to picture HOW you snapped it in half ?? Its folded metal and quite solid ?

You can try calling Protac from the link I posted earlier - or this is a bit rough but go to someplace like Mitre 10 / hardware shop, and see if you can get a piece of L - Shapped metal, place it against the location of the retainering plate, from the inside of the case mark where the screw holes go and drill some holes in the plate, and screw that in. This Very Rough Drawing (www.imagef1.net.nz) is what I mean.
