639585 2008-02-11 23:58:00 Would like to get a AGP video card for my friend's teenage sun who plays Warcraft. We are looking at Gforce 7600GS 256 MB; either ASUS or Gigabyte.

1. Is this card OK? His boy says that the card must be Direct X 9 capable. Can I assume this card supports DirectX?

2. Should we get ASUS or Gigabyte? They are of about the same price.

System spec:

P4S800-MX
2.4 GHz
512 RAM

Cheers

So pick the one with the bundled extras that appeals most.

639588 2008-02-12 03:51:00 That card's going to blitz warcraft, so you're all good there. I'd suggest you get an extra 512mb ram while you're at it though. Would be well worth it in the long run. Thebananamonkey (7741)

639592 2008-02-14 20:26:00 Just wanted to save a couple of dollars, my friend (the boy's father) bought the card but a different brand - Inno 3D! We installed the card last night, OS detected the card, installed the drivers from the supplied CD, re-booted and everything seems to be working just fine - the few dollars worth saving - so far.

Restarted the computer just to make sure that it is OK, error message window pops up saying the there isn't sufficient power to run the graphic card and if we continue, the system may lock up... (not the exact wordings, but something to that effect) It further suggested to connect a power cable to correct the problem, but there isn't any power cable enclosed.

Anyway, he decided to leave as it is and let his try it out.

What could be the cause? Is this something common? Went to Inno site later last night but found nothing about the error and there isn't any user manual available!

Did you plus this in?

Also, how powerful is the Power Supply (PSU). Look on the side of the PSU, it will tell you there.

There isn't any power cable supplied. Do we need to buy it separately?
