319880 2005-01-31 22:35:00 From time to time I notice that posts in threads are being deleted outright, without any Moderator comments or reason, even some basically innocuous posts just mysteriously disappear.

What are our - I repeat our, Moderators doing!?

The latest is in a topic (forums.pcworld.co.nz) where I quoted a response, and afterward looked back at the poster's post and lo and behold, it had vanished.

Perhaps a study entitled "How to Win Confidence in PressF1, or even "Mismanagement of Digital Records" should be made.

319883 2005-02-01 00:53:00 I am going to try to edit this to extinction immediately after posting. I thought that it might be possible for someone to remove their own posting without trace. It seems not. A zero length (including just spaces) isn't accepted.

But the world won't end if an occasional posting goes missing.

319884 2005-02-01 01:03:00 I'm sure I've seen some people here completely edit out double postings... agent (30)
319885 2005-02-01 01:27:00 I don't know about Big Brother but while we are on the topic of moderators, Chilling Silence now gets to have an avatar but the rest of us don't. :illogical

<Goes to turn off avatar display.>

Avatars have ONLY been enabled for moderators, this is to avoid confusion. This is only because we have a few people who have been changing their usertitles to "moderator" or similar.

319887 2005-02-01 01:40:00 I have been known to delete to odd post/thread without warning, but I assure you it is only when said post/threads is so offensive and/or spam that it fully warrants it. Can count the number of times I've done this on one hand in recent months.

As for avatars - tough cheese. Never intended to use them at all but since some kids seem to think its fun to pretend to be mods Mary has put em in place for the mods. Funny how mods who give their time free to try and keep things running smoothly always end up copping the flak (Bruce goes off to top up his "patience" supply .....)

Should have an upper age limit as well, say about 60. Then we don't get old men barking at everybody for no reason. :groan:
