2005-01-27 08:51:00 | UK Online is offering 8Mbit broadband service to the UK. The upstream is 400K, and there's a monthly download cap of 500GB, but at 40 pounds per month, plus 50 installation and a free wireless router in the package, that has to be among the best deals on offer from anyone. if only telecom could give us half that speed at that cap and that price.

2005-01-27 09:08:00 | I think the length of time a packet would take to get that far, combined with signal loss and interference, wouldn't make it worthwhile. Be better to hook yerself up with a job at the Global Gateway.

2005-01-27 09:20:00 | GBP40 = approx $NZD100. I wouldn't want to pay $100 per month for a net connection. Even if it did have a 500GB cap.

2005-01-27 09:27:00 | lets see........ using cat6 UTP, hubs every 250M = 80000 hubs and 20000Km of UTP. expect lag time of about 3 seconds. cost of UTP at $0.30/meter (discount for bulk) cost of network hubs $15 each (discount for bulk) total cost = 1.8Mil having such a cool network setup? pricless!!!!

2005-01-27 09:36:00 | Priceless until the next underwater earthquake or similar event that is. Then you'd have the worlds largest repair bill for a problem with a network cable. :D | agent (30) | |
