| 639727 | 2008-02-12 21:45:00 | I have on here at the moment, a 2gig Sandisk that I cannot even access it is just dead..I have seen many brands with the same problem but I have heard that the Dick smith cards are a bit dodgy but wouldnt like to single out any brand just XD and SD ..I am doing a google at the moment trying to find software to recover file from it, photo rescue seem to do a advanced copy of their software that at least recognises the card but it is too advanced, i may try the dummy version. I have a Dick Smith SD card that I can't access and haven't bought any more DSE cards but perhaps it's the luck of the draw eh?. |

| 639729 | 2008-02-12 22:22:00 | Paul where did you get the info that says SDHC (I presume that means High Capacity) are not backward compatible with card readers There are many locations. This is from wikipedia "SDHC cards only work in SDHC compatible devices, but standard SD cards work in both SD and SDHC devices." Older readers may be firmware upgradable. The MS hotfix isn't the cure, it may be something SDHC DRM related for all I know. I haven't seen mass panic about SD card corruption here forums.dpreview.com but there are quite a few modern PCs with built in readers that don't read SDHC. |

| 639732 | 2008-02-12 22:38:00 | Well true, altho I or the site didnt say it applied to normal card readers. You'll have to have an SDHC compat card / reader (obviously), and the fix will let u use cards over 4 GB. |
