Nope, if you read my post properly (or looked at the picture...), just plug a spare one in from the PSU. ;)

You also NEED to find the wattage/model of the PSU, as if it's underpowered, there is the potential to seriously damage the Graphics Card and other components in the PC.

What's the minimum power required to run this card? Can only check it when he comes home from work tonight.

No worries. :)

The card wants a minimum of 18 amps on the +12v rail, and draws around 40w when being fully utilised. so you will want a minimum of a 430w psu, with at least 22 amps on the +12v rail to run things safely with a bit of headroom.

That make sense? You'll understand better when you've seen the writing on the PSU.

639598 2008-02-14 21:26:00 I'd recommend something like this (www.computerlounge.co.nz) or this (www.computerlounge.co.nz) for a PSU, if his isn't up to the job.

Remember, if he upgrades, it's a simple matter to pull it out and put it in a different PC. It's not throwing money away. ;)
