The yanks should just get the hell out of all the countries they have been meddling in for the last 60 years. What he said!! Just because they're now like us doesn't make it good, great, right or otherwise. |

They seem hell bent on killing any Westerners found there. Some democracy they have in the US and Britain. I dread to think how much taxpayers money went into funding the Iraq war - and all for what? There are far more important things that all that money should have been spent on - like helping people who really need it. |

| 320238 | 2005-02-01 08:55:00 | www.albinoblacksheep.com The above flash parody does a good job of putting an amusing spin on it, particularly the last line or two "Iraq will have Starbucks, Apple Pie and Baseball". America forcing their wants on a country. Warning: For those easily offended the above flash animation contains: violence, weapons, homosexual allusions, cross-dressing, sexist imagery, offensive words such as "crotch, nipples, butt, rump" and Tony Blair. If you don't have a modicum of a sense of humour, are retentive, or don't wish to see any of the aforementioned activities please do not follow this humourous link. |

Actually, the terrorists seem comprise a very small group of mostly foreigners, probably with very little influence since they have failed to foment the promised civil war, or to escalate the conflict to involve ordinary Iraqis. Some democracy they have in the US and Britain. I dread to think how much taxpayers money went into funding the Iraq war - and all for what? There are far more important things that all that money should have been spent on - like helping people who really need it. Iraqis are not "people", do not need it, or both? You should be thankful for the Americans and the British - they spent a lot of money and the lives of their soldiers ridding the world of Nazis, Japanese Imperialists, Communism. I hope you have not forgotten that they helped this end of the world once upon a time... |

| 320243 | 2005-02-01 19:16:00 | IMHO the vast majority of Iraqis wanted to cooperate fully in rebuilding their country as a democracy, just like post-war Germany and Japan. The opposition that you have been seeing in Iraq is almost all from Islamists, terrorist and otherwise, who wanted Iraq to be a theocracy in the style of Taleban-Afghanistan. What the news almost never reports is that these Islamists are almost always foreigners extolling the foreign concept of Wahabism. Their number is probably very small, but the methods they use to terrorise people is very noticeable. Good points, Vinref. :2cents: The rise of many mobile (religious) fanatics/terrorists must be more of a 21st century thing. It only takes a few nutters amongst an uneducated narrow-minded economically deprived population to create a large enough group to kill others for their own wicked means. Germany and Japan after WW2 seem to have had a more stable government than Iraq... something was very different back then. |

I hope you have not forgotten that they helped this end of the world once upon a time . . . And you think the world will be a better place all because of democracy in Iraq? Tell you what, why dont we just go and take over the world . Presumably North Korea, Sudan, the rest of the middle East and many other places will be next on the hitlist . All this came about because of 9/11 . 3000 people died that day . So to fix the problem we sacrifice hundreds (maybe thousands) of 'our' soliders and kill many thousands of Iraqis . Not to mention spend billions of dollars (at taxpayers expense) . Where is the benefit I ask? Now if we were being invaded and there was an imminent threat to our way of life, then fine . But there never was so what was it all for? |
