| 639541 | 2008-02-11 17:35:00 | Have just built a new Pc for video editing, and when it's going I'm pretty happy. This is what I have. Pentium 2.4 quad Asus P5kr mobo 4 gig corsairs 6400 ram Corsairs 630 power supply Gigabyte 8800gt vid card 2x seagate 500gig Hd's Lg dvd burner Vista premium Of course the video card wasn't really needed for video editing but anyway. On start up it makes it through the bios screen and most of the time it makes it to windows user log on screen but sometimes not. Then other times the thing is ready for action and it will stop just as I go into my emails. the pc will still be on but the screen goes blank and nothing happens. Every morning it's a drama to get it going and usually takes about three times. whats got me more confused is it's not consistant. but always within a minute of start up(or should I say pushing the button for startup). Once it's past that I don't have any problems other that it won't come out of sleep mode. It runs new games well. Not sure who to point the finger at software, hardware, or the guy who built it. |

I reseated the graphic card and carefully positioned the cable and now all is sweet. I was doing something behind the PC at one stage and just barely bumped the cable and all went dead, so I put it down to the cable. |

If it's only a 32 bit, take out RAM, get it below 3 gig (I assume you have 2x 2gb). 32 bit Windows OS's can only see/use 3.25 Gig of RAM, and having more than 3.25 gig installed can cause some strange problems. Does it work OK in safe mode? Grasping at straws here :p. Vista does have issues with sleep mode, wait until SP1 is out and see if they fixed it. |

I'd expect temp to be a problem after running for about 5min or more or when I'm running something intense like ghost recon which i can play for hours without a prob. |

| 639545 | 2008-03-06 18:17:00 | Well I gave Ascent a call and they thought I'm having harware failure. I was told to download the Ultimate boot disk, run that and that would give me the hardware errors. but when I went to their site it gave me the impression I had to build a disk which looked very confusing. Is there an easier way? I'm starting to think it's my hardrive purly by the nature of the crashes. | Ron Bakker (356) | ||
