| 640640 | 2008-02-15 09:27:00 | hi looking to change from xtra to xnet. With xtra i pay $40 and only get 3gb of usage but with xnet u can get i think 6gb and if u pay 45 dollars u get around 10-11 5 dollars more and 5 gb more. also u pay wat u use. Do u get faster download load speeds with xnet? i get around 275kb a sec downloading from nz sites and stuff top speed. this is my download and upload Downstream 21.0dB 2848 Kbps and Upload 41.0dB 160 Kbps. does xnet give u lower ping in game severs then xtra? and does interleaving lower ur ping and do u ask xnet to turn it off or do u do it through ur router or do u gotta have a specail router? |

But, I havent gone that high yet. The most I've paid since Sept 07 is about $40 for 6-7 GB. This is for the 2 of us here. And what you dont use, you dont pay for. Dont know about interleaving, I havent called Xnet about it. And you dont pay for all the crap most ISP's charge you either (no contract, no $10 fee for phone etc). It depends what server / country I download from, on how fast it is. I'm just glad its way faster than dialup! |

| 640644 | 2008-02-15 12:59:00 | how much kb a sec do u get from downloading? will vary depending on your location, the server location plus traffic to the server (and through your exchange too, probably) just remember the difference between KB/s and Kb/s - capital B for Byte and little b for bit. 8 bits to 1 Byte so if your router says it's connection is 2848 Kb/s, that is 356KB/s... so considering you get 275KB/s already, i wouldn't complain too much:thumbs: see what this speedtest says (www.nzdsl.co.nz) - make sure all the page has loaded/your aren't downloading anything when you run it |

There are too many variable between each person, such as motorbyclist has said, location and distance to the server etc WILL make a difference. So it is not really an accurate way to judge the difference. |

| 640648 | 2008-02-15 21:29:00 | You can just ask Xnet to take interleaving off, it does make a quite a bit of difference to gaming. My son games online and his ping went from around 150 to around 70 straight away. I am on Fusion now and get fast up and fast down. Speed test is 3.7Mb down and 675 Kbps up. |
