640634 2008-02-15 08:05:00 Just helping a friend try to instal Skype (the blind leading the blind...) online and she can't get anything to work through the USB ports. Camera the other day - thought it was the cable, webcam now, she's tried every port. Been told it could be a virus...

Thoughts please?

Cheers
Winston

Not too sure if it could hit a USB port.

Unless whatever it is, has installed as a service.

I would do a scan or post a HJT log off this PC.

640637 2008-02-15 10:51:00 To be honest I wouldn't know how to delete the USB ports - never heard of doing that. Wouldn't new drivers have to be installed or would that happen at boot-up? Winston001 (3612)

Yup, go to Device Manager and delete the entries for the USB ports. When you re-boot, new drivers will be loaded. You might want to wait till someone with more experience can tell you exactly what to do.
