640541 2008-02-15 05:34:00 hi everbody I have had to reinstall windows xp which has worked out well but cant find windows explorer. It is located in accessories but when I open it, it is actually my documents. Can someone help or am I a complete idiot demon31 (13324)

Right mouse on the desktop / properties / desktop / customise desktop.

Tick my computer if you want it on the desktop

(But it should be at %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe Try go there and make a shortcut to your desktop).

Or better - if you still want to access it via Accessories, go to Accessories/Windows Explorer. Right-click on it, select Properties, and in the Target Window paste over whatever you've got there with %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe

[edit] Or go to C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe. You can make a shortcut to your desktop or quick-launch bar if you like.

640544 2008-02-15 08:17:00 Do you mean when you click on Windows Explorer, it opens a window, listing the files in the My Documents folder, this is what it is set to do by default; the default folder can be altered (sorry, dont remember how right now ;)) feersumendjinn (64)
