320541 2005-02-01 22:21:00 I would like to clarify a few things about the Moderation of posts/threads. You may of seen Greg's thread about the "Big Brother" moderation and how part of his post vanished.

If a Moderator/Admin edits a post, it will always show the footnote of "Edited by:". If that footnote isn't there, then your post has not been edited.

If a Moderator/Admin deletes an individual post within a thread, it will always show a header comment of "Deleted by:"

If a Moderator/Admin deletes an entire thread, then there will be no visible evidence of this. We only delete entire threads if they are a spam thread advertising a product/service (there have been a few of these made in the earlier hours on the morning), or if the thread is of sufficient ill content, that is the best option (this will be a rarity).

If you think a thread has vanished from a forum, this might just be one of the Mods moving the thread to the correct forum. If you look in the other forum, you will find the thread there now. Duplicate threads are sometimes merged into one thread, so this again might appear if one has been deleted.

The report bad post function is there to be used. The Mods/Admin don't have time to read every thread, so we appreciate the help to point out any post that may need some Mod input. While you might be happy to turn a blind eye to such posts, think of the impression other/new forum members would get if this behaviour is left unchecked. We want to keep PressF1 a place where everyone can post their questions without fear of being abused or ridiculed.

We are doing our best to keep this place friendly, and on the previous Jive forum, a survery thread showed the overwhelming opinion was that more active and stronger moderation was required.

PressF1 is here for everyone, of all ages and computer ability, lets keep it like that. :)

Cheers
Jen

Only when I put a reason in, will it always show up.

Mind you, I have edited this....

...for the 4th time now

Edit #5: Took 4 times before it showed up

320543 2005-02-02 03:41:00 Edit #5: Took 4 times before it showed upThat's done on a time thing. There is a short grace period where it doesn't append the Edited by: stuff ninja (1671)
320544 2005-02-02 03:44:00 That's done on a time thing. There is a short grace period where it doesn't append the Edited by: stuff
Now, let me take it back again. If there is a set timeframe, then why is it take sometimes I edit well within 30 seconds and the "Edit by:" appears. And as you can see above, it took 4 edits in 2 minutes before it came up. :illogical

.. I don't understand.

I think the grace time is about one minute - really not sure - but perhaps each subsequent edit resets the grace time,

320546 2005-02-02 05:43:00 Perhaps the window is 2 minutes, not 30 seconds... george12 (7)
320547 2005-02-02 23:34:00 I just saw for the first time that Moderators have an Avatar... looks like a person with a big belly. Is Jen pregnant? Greg (193)

Perhaps I haven't been bad enough yet.
