| 640415 | 2008-02-14 22:33:00 | Is it possible to use onboard IDE controller + an extra card for more ports without resource conflict? OS is Windows XP Pro. I have some old ISA cards with IDE, but I think they are programmed for IRQ 14/15 which the onboard IDE has to use, so I don't think it's possible with those. Would a PCI card work, on a different IRQ? or do these also use 14/15? |

| 640417 | 2008-02-15 01:25:00 | it can work, I have added a card with 2 sata & 1 IDE ports to a board with 4 onboard sata & 2 onboard ide to give a total of 6 sata & 3 ide ports with no problems. I don't know if the cards you have will work, but give it a try - nothing to lose. Worst case, the pc won't be able to find a boot device and you'll have to shut it down and remove the card. The more hardware in your system the more chance you will run into conflicts of course |
