641789 2008-02-18 22:00:00 I'm going to get a new computer and I'm wondering if Alienware is a good company to buy from. jordan (13234)
641790 2008-02-18 22:11:00 You could do worse, but I wouldn't buy from them.

Go to www.ascent.co.nz and use the PC builder there, or get parts and build your own.

641791 2008-02-18 23:47:00 Alienware is a wholly owned subsidiary of Dell (eww) these days (cool-looking boxes though!): nah, theyre as good as any other proprietary brand I spose; 'tis more fun, and cheaper to build your own, plus you have a sense of achievement in doing it yourself, and you know whats's in it.
Post back here if you want any pointers as to what to get.

641792 2008-02-19 00:11:00 Expensive and very cool but I'd rather build my own from ascent or just go into any PC Shop and browse around. You know exactly what you're getting! beeswax34 (63)
641793 2008-02-19 00:32:00 Lousy bang for the buck and extremely overrated in my opinion. :D

CBCNZ make some really good custom pc's and have great service, just choose the parts you want and they'll build it for only $35 extra.

641794 2008-02-19 03:11:00 But their laptops are good. Well, spec wise anyway. pctek (84)

In fact I think they may be exactly the same, barring the paint job.
