| 641381 | 2008-02-18 07:07:00 | Hi. I've just formatted my new (2nd hand) comp and reinstalled Xp SP1 freshly from a CD and got hold of SP2 (on CD) and my concern is that a lot of sites say well you should make sure that you've got all the MS updates before you install SP2 otherwise godknows what will happen. I can get the updates off the net I know but don't want to do that until I've got the comp ready for the net, ie a firewall (I'll use the SP2 firewall) and I've got AVG as well on the same CD and I'll install that as well. So what what do you expertiseartists think? TIA.....m |

The main thing is CHECK for malware / spyware BEFORE you install SP2. Otherwise you'll have probs. Also there is no need (If you have SP2 on cd) to install SP1. You can install SP2 straight after you format. |

| 641384 | 2008-02-18 07:19:00 | It should be fine, if it was a clean install. Installing SP2 now, shouldnt be a prob. You DONT need any updates prior to installing SP2. SP2 includes what was in SP1. |

| 641387 | 2008-02-18 14:47:00 | best time to install sp2 is straight after a clean install of xp or xpsp1..... as for installing all the updates first well that'd kinda defeat the purpose......what do you think sp2 IS ?......updates lol....... |
