How far is it getting?

Is it detecting the HDD?

Can you get into the BIOS?

The wire that goes from the reset switch to the motherboard was one pin off, so it decided to pull that stuff.

Was this computer just built or something? Or was it going ok before?

Another site said, this can happen, if an Ipod or similar is plugged in while booting. Is an Ipod plugged into a USB port?? If it is remove it

641304 2008-02-18 04:06:00 Connect or change the IDE cable then.

Or make sure the cable is the right way round.

the computer wasnt built now, it could be that someone messed up the switch but no no ipod or anything is plugged in.

641306 2008-02-18 04:10:00 I would say its because the hdd doesnt get detected.

Its either disconnected, or theres no power going to it. Put it and the DVD on AUTO in the BIOS.

it is the HDD, it seems its not picking up the bootable media. however if i use bart PE and give cdrom the first priority its booting. and when i get into bartPE i browse the HDD everything seems to be as it is. now i have kept it for bad sector check.
but when i plug a different hard drive which doesnt have an OS everthing goes normal, bios gives me an error saying please insert bootable media. but when the old one is in it just shows the INTEL logo and beeps once and restarts. very strange...

641308 2008-02-18 22:22:00 Sounds like the hdd is stuffed then . If another hdd works ok, (its saying theres no media, coz there's nothing on it).

And is detected in the BIOS.

Install the one that doesnt work in a working PC, as a slave copy whatever docs then format it.

Then reinstall Windows if it'll let u install on it

And if that doesnt work replace the hdd

641309 2008-02-18 23:39:00 yeh iam going to try installing windows on working hdd just to chk it works. but one thing i dont get is if the old hdd gets detected and is still holding data it is suppose to why doesnt it boot. it wont even give me any error i.e. no os or missing bla bla files. gum digger (6100)
