324575 2005-02-13 03:52:00 After reading an article "Opera to MS: Get real about interoperability, Mr Gates" by Hakon Lie on SlashDot....

I can't seem to produce a link except providing you with slashdot so you can link to letter via them.

quote << You say you believe in interoperability. Then why is your document served in different versions to different browsers? Why does your server sniff out the Opera browser and send it different style sheets from the ones you send to Microsoft's own Internet Explorer (WinIE)? As a result, Opera renders the page differently. ...end of quote.

This is the first time I have had anything adverse to say about MS. Mind you it's because it affects me personally, as I would like Opera to be on an equal footing with the rest of the browsers and get the due credit for being an excellent browser.

Funny how apathetic you can be when it's other people being affected, yet be prepared to speak out when it affects you.
Selfish? Me? Yeah. :xmouth:

324577 2005-02-13 04:26:00 That's an old one - Microsoft have been playing dirty tricks like that for years. Sometimes the only way I can view a site properly in Opera is to set Opera to "Identify as MSIE 6.0". I always switch it back to "Identify as Opera" afterwards though, as I want the site statistics to show that Opera is being used. FoxyMX (5)
324578 2005-02-13 04:48:00 BTW even with opera set to "Identify as MSIE 6.0" it still has opera in its browser ID. most useless scripts are fooled by it but not poperly done scripts. tweak'e (69)
