323596 2005-02-10 10:01:00 As my comp is in a cupboard about 6' away from the desk I purchased some of those flat plastic 'ties' from the hardware store that are used for gardening... staking trees etc. Loop it around the bundle of cables, thread the flat tongue through the 'eye' on the other end and pull it as tight as you want then cut off the excess sticking out. Very tidy and cheap :) Shortcircuit (1666)
323597 2005-02-10 10:25:00 Cable mess is a pain - I've just spent the last two days re-arranging the study and the wires are already fairly disgusting.

The big concern though is the power points. I have two multi-boards screwed to the wall next to the power point. As the power points are above desk height I turn off at the wall each night. Not a bad idea - the local school lost a couple of classrooms a few years back. Fault was traced to an overloaded power point.

323598 2005-02-10 19:00:00 John: Your system sounds good but my pathetic imagination is having a little difficulty picturing it. Is there any chance you could post a photo of it?

Shortcircuit: I tried doing that not long ago but wasn't very successful at making it look "tidy". Do you tie the cables up and then let the bundles dangle? The method that the cable system has of hanging the bundles on hooks is what appeals to me. I plan to show The Boss this weekend and see if I can bribe him into making something up for me, being the whiz that he is at fulfilling such demands. :p

I will do so over the weekend - a bit busy today. Where do I post the pix, FoxyM?

323600 2005-02-10 20:15:00 dare I say it, but I think the "command adhesive" range has some cable wall mounts.
I like the marley spouting idea - easy, and very cheap too.

my sparky hubby very helpfully coiled and cable tied the wires behind our tv/video/dvd/ps2/stereo - he did it so well that its hard to change anything though

323601 2005-02-10 20:26:00 That would be great John, thanks. You can email pics to me if you like and I will put them up on my website for others to see if you wish. Can email me via my profile. :) FoxyMX (5)

You expect us to believe a woman can't get her hubby to redo a few things through the use of a couple of eyelid flutters and puppy-dog eyes? Sure works on me when it needs to (or am I the only weak softy who gives in too easily?) :D

True Mike, that technique has been used few times already - once when we *finally* bought a dvd player. Failing that, I just use the other technique aka nagging ;)

Nagging might work to get things done, but he won't like doing it, and then if you want something else done (even with the eyework etc.) he'll be less willing... Only nag when he knows he should have done it to start with - not when its something you just wanted him to do cause you can't (or don't want to try) ;) LOL Each technique must be used in the right circumstances :D Trust me, I know what its like (from the male point-of-view) :p
