| 641266 | 2008-02-17 21:26:00 | Hi I am getting the following error message when running Vodafone Mobile Connect broadband on my laptop: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Buffer overrun detected! Program: . . . \Vodafone Mobile Connect\Bin\MobileConnect . exe A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state . The program cannot safely continue and must now be terminated . Having searched high and low on the net and the Microsoft site I have found a lot of speculation about this error ranging from a virus, spyware, hacking tool, Microsoft update conflict etc etc but no actual fixes except that it can occur while executing many other programs too so it's not confined to the Vodafone software . I have run numerous spyware and anti virus scans, un-installed and re-installed the Vodafone software but no change . I am running Vista Home Premium 32-bit on a HP laptop . Any help or ideas most appreciated :-) Thanks Peter |

| 641267 | 2008-02-17 21:30:00 | Post a hijackthis log, its in my sig. Put it in its own folder first. Run it click on scan the system, and save a log. Copy and paste the log here. Is it compatible with Vista? Does it say that it works on Vista on the Vodafone site? Have you contacted Vodafone? |

| 641268 | 2008-02-17 21:47:00 | Thanks for the quick reply! :-) Yes, Vodafone supplied me the Vista compatible install disc for this software and has been running trouble free until recently. Vodafone said not their problem and advised going to the Microsoft site. Here's the log... O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file) I wouldnt run this in the background. Then install 1.6.0.4, link is in my sig. Is Vista up to date with updates? Try uninstalling this program again, delete its folder. Then use something like ccleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com) Install it (untick the toolbar option), run it then click on run cleaner. Then click on registry / scan for issues. Delete whatever comes up. Then install and see if that program runs. Youre not the only one with this prob (mybroadband.co.za) Is the version of the program youre using a release candidate version or the final version? |

| 641270 | 2008-02-18 00:58:00 | Thanks for the advise, unfortunately no luck. Followed instructions to the letter - error message still stuck there there on the desktop!? Can't get rid of it at all, very annoying.... Yes all Vista updates are current (last one on 15th) Program is final version. It started yesterday when I booted up, checked what happened the day before but no new software was installed, no email attachments were opened and no other changes took place on the pc. It just 'appeared'. Searching the Net it seems to be a problem that has occurred not just with Vista but all versions of Windows and while running other programs. I noticed a lot of people have had it come up running IE7. No real fixes though.... Here's the latest log.... | 641272 | 2008-02-18 01:14:00 | Leave bmnet.dll in there. It gets installed with the Vodafone software, and it helps to speed up connections, using some random type of compression... I'd completely uninstall and reinstall the VMC software, worked for me last time I saw this problem. Make sure you install the latest version, and when installing, make sure you run the .exe as administrator. |
