1423858 2016-07-30 07:36:00 I fixed it!
I unplugged the second monitor.
Of course, it is not really a fix. I have no idea why the second monitor would cause that. And, obviously I want to use both monitors, but, for now, I have nVidia graphics working on one screen. And W10 boots past the black screen
Progress.

1423859 2016-08-20 13:26:00 Had trouble with an Nvidia Quadro 4200 with multi monitors - after upgrade to Win10, only one monitor would work (Nvidia driver failed and graphics was operating on default Microsoft driver). Had to install an older Nvidia driver to have Win10 run the Nvidia driver and get all monitors working. Unfortunately, Windows update would insist on re-installing the latest Nvidia driver each night - which resulted in only one monitor working again. Finally used group policy to require Windows not to update graphics driver. wuppo (41)
1423860 2016-08-20 23:06:00 If Windowsupdate keeps trying to install a driver, get wushowhide then run it. If the driver thats trying to install appears here, click on hide. It wont appear again

I had to use this to hide the canon printer drivers it tried to install (when I had installed them already).

Well I had no choice, because you can't install other updates, if it keeps trying to install whatever driver, and it fails

I had to do the same thing with this wireless keyboard 800. It kept trying to install some crap update. But it kept bringing up errors in event viewer. Saying some part of it couldnt be found.

Then I decided to install the software from the MS site

1423861 2016-08-20 23:59:00 Had similar on 3 laptops, windows trying to install AMD drivers caused instant black screen, once removed and using the actual AMD drivers from their site, disabled all drivers from MS installing (or meant to) Problem solved.

Right click This PC/ Properties , Advanced system Settings / Hardware tab / Device installation Settings / Turn off
