| 1423840 | 2016-07-29 17:40:00 | My wifi is UFB connected via my dual band router and I can get 5GHz wifi access on my android phone and HP laptop but not on my Acer laptop ( Aspire One 722) . If I select connect even if not broadcasting name the 5GHz appears on my connection list and accepts the name and password but if I try to connect it says the radio type is non broadcast with no signal strength . At the same time the signal strength on the phone is very strong with link speed of 433 Mbps -varying . The laptop is nearer the modem than the phone . On the laptop I can connect IPv4 only at a -fixed always- 72Mbps . In Device Manager I show 2 network adapters? : Atheros AR8152/8158PCI-E Indis 620 and Broadcom 80211n . version 5 . 100 . 235 . 19 . neither shows 5G in the Advanced Properties . Only the Broadcom shows in the network centre . Ive tried to update . What can I do to get 5GHz on the Acer which I use for Netflix? |

It's like the TPlink wireless adapter I use here. The driver for it on TPlink's site (which is for Win 7 and 8). There is no Win10 driver on the site. And the driver Win10 installs for it, dont support 5 GHZ at all. It (the 5 GHZ connection on the router), doesn't even appear in the connections that I can connect to I had to install 3rd party drivers to get 2.4 and 5 GHZ to appear So it maybe the version of the driver that's installed that maybe the prob. I would check the Acer site for an updated driver. Or check the Broadcom site for one |

So they may not work / or wont work on yours (these adapters use a Mediatek chipset) I would remove the wireless adapter on yours or open the lid where it is and see what it says on the card (besides being Broadcom). It may have a model # or something etched on it as well. Look on the Acer site and see if there's a later version of the drivers for it |
