1423722 2016-07-27 00:26:00 Hi There

Win10 firewall wont start. The service wont start, the MS Fixit didnt fixit.

Im pretty sure it was broken by a manufacturers preloaded Mcafee . McAfee was long ago removed, but I see it leftover folders
Ive previously come across Mcaffe leaving MS Firewall broken when McAfee is removed , but I cant remember how I fixed it .

Any suggestions appreciated, google just gives fixes that dont work & the usual red herrings :)

1423723 2016-07-27 00:40:00 Have you Run sfc scannow? Lawrence (2987)
1423724 2016-07-27 00:45:00 Exact same problem as you mentioned listed several places.

Found one possible fix ?

Personally I normally run their removal tool, THEN open Ccleaner and do a reg scan, often that picks up other entries as well, simply delete the lot. :2cents:

1423725 2016-07-27 00:53:00 Presume you have checked Dependencies, e.g. Windows Firewall Authorization Driver?

ccleaner regfix : didnt help
sfc didnt help

At the mo, Im just trying suggested fix after suggested fix: non work.
I'll try comparing reg entries on a working 10 PC , clutching at straws now..

The crazy thing is, some Win10 Winupdates will not install if Win firewall isnt running (yep, thats a real issue). Thats how I discovered the fw issue .

1423727 2016-07-27 01:42:00 Re-install keeping your files will work 100% Lawrence (2987)
1423728 2016-07-27 04:14:00 Maybe the anniversary update will fix it? Perhaps worth waiting a few days to see! linw (53)
1423729 2016-07-27 04:21:00 Run the Mcafee removal tool and remove the rest of it Speedy Gonzales (78)

Tried that.
I'm finding other Win system issues as I get further into it, so it needs a full reload. And possibly a new HD (scandsk /r wouldnt finish)
And this morning :1st wouldnt load win "something happened" error , then hardware fault : wont turn on after spitting the dummy earlier .

Just lovely :badpc:

1423731 2016-07-27 22:37:00 Run this. (www.bleepingcomputer.com)Does it say everything is working / there?

If the service has stopped, what error comes up if you try to start it?

I could have a quick look with teamviewer, if you want
