1423538 2016-07-23 00:31:00 Probably a dumb question but I am going to ask it anyway. I have an Image backup of my win7 and now that I have win10 there are some programs that I want

to restore to win10 from the backup. Can someone advise how I achieve this please.?

1423539 2016-07-23 00:36:00 you have to reinstall them - then you can copy any data etc to them bevy121 (117)

It consists of about 25 Folders. Can I just copy and paste each of those Folders into the newly downloaded program, or is it not that easy.?

1423541 2016-07-23 01:24:00 Generally NO !

You have to reinstall the program from fresh ( as Bevy posted). Normally when doing something like you want you would export / Backup first (what ever option the program has) the current data base/ setup from a working Version Eg: On W7, then on the new install, Import / Restore from backup, and the complete structure, data would be put back as it was.

1423543 2016-07-23 03:19:00 I am still not having any success with this Image copy. I am desperate to reinstall this program as it has many hours of research on it. I have downloaded a copy of the "Legacy" program.

If I understand what you are saying, I have to get the Image copy up and running.? That is my problem as I can only see one .exe file in the backup and that won't run. What am I missing here.?

1423544 2016-07-23 05:27:00 Should be able to install the new version, and grab the Legacy data files from your backup.

1423545 2016-07-25 03:46:00 A bit late for you now, probably. When I get a new/upgrade programme ( not a major like Windows or MS Office ) I save the Installation Setup Application File to a external Hard Disk and/or USB. The if System Image fails (I've never tried to restore from one) I can reinstall the programme from the USB. All my data files are separately backed up. Neil F (14248)
