1420044 2016-05-04 03:05:00 Recently Chrome seems to try and take over. I am tired of being told that a file I am downloading may be dangerous to my computer. This morning I was downloading a CCleaner update and was blocked by Chrome. I am sick of being treated like an idiot. I can't find any way of stopping Chrome from bossing me around.:mad: mzee (3324)

Where were you downloading from ?
if from cnet/download.com etc, then chrome would have been 100% correct in blocking it

1420047 2016-05-04 22:23:00 I was going to try Chrome again to see if it was better than FF I've been using. But the constant nagging that google or Gmail works better with Chrome when I'm using FF annoys me so I haven't.

I resisted adding any browsers for years. I don't like adding software to the PC to do things it can already do by default, but some of the plug-ins available for FF won me over even though I've since stopped using all but adblock plus which is not exclusive to FF.

Yep Cnet is terrible, I always look for another option, direct from piriform in the case of Ccleaner. What irritates me the most (well except for bundled Cr@p I don't want) is download sites that hide away the actual download button somewhere and plaster giant download buttons for other stuff all over the place hoping you'll click it by mistake. It's dishonest and someone needs a kick in the family Jewels for starting it.

1420048 2016-05-04 22:30:00 I would also be careful if you use filehippo. Read a while ago now they were going to do what cnet did. Inject crap into installers, and fill your system with crap Speedy Gonzales (78)

Always get it from Piriform, no add ons.

Already done, ignores it!
MalwareBytes is on guard, don't need Google to tell me what to do!

1420051 2016-05-04 23:53:00 Chrome used to block all the Nirsoft downloads, not sure if it still does, but it was highly annoying! Renegade (16270)

MalwareBytes is on guard, don't need Google to tell me what to do! Theres something else stopping it then. Been on two customers computers who have the latest Chrome, and downloaded the latest Ccleaner with no worries at all.

Could be Malwarebytes since you say its "on Guard" and this has nothing to do with Chrome.

Google will be warning searchers of sites (www.searchenginejournal.com) with deceptive download buttons. Often they take manual action (by burying their sites deep in the search results) against sites that have too many adds above the fold. (www.sitepoint.com)

As for Chrome warnings, never had any warning for any ccleaner updates over the years...
