No more newsworthy than local interest (feelgood) stories They realize its all about entertainment. The market for pure news is far too small , and there are places to go to get pure news, but few go there . True NZ too small, or isolated, politically stable, or whatever for newsworthy items. - No mass school shootings, no bumbling billionnaires, influential benefactors, NZ scandalous govt departments, (like recent "Fat Leonard" corrupt US Navy (www.rt.com)). Seemingly trying to make news out off almost anything that seems popular abroad, like the aforementioned reality type show. Perhaps NZ too stable, non dynamic for anything newsworthy to happen... |

I could make the same argument for ALL fiction, TV books etc I dont know why people get so upset about entertainment , thats all it is . Of course reality TV is fiction, so what . :) Some people need to relax & have fun , dont be so serious . |

As drivelly and dumbing down that "reality" shows are.....scripted - that is, fiction shows, can be equally as likely to dumb their audience down. Sharknado anyone? Its all a matter of what you're into. And who is anyone to cast aspersions on what someone else may call entertainment? |
