328436 2005-02-28 04:27:00 Define country?

Are we talking like multi-1000 ha property 2 day ride to the boundary country, or are we talking like Auckland 2 acres and a 4x4 shopping cart "country"?

328437 2005-02-28 04:56:00 "but still, its private property, do what you want."

Indeed ???

Maybe hsv-b0y could move to Prescottland where anything goes ....

328438 2005-02-28 05:39:00 As long as the noise does not leave the property, that sentiment is fine.

just like a cowshed, they are loud too and that must leave the property, does that also include a contractor ploughing a paddock near the boundary?

if you feel the need

id say go with the idea that metla suggested if you really want to do it properly.....

328439 2005-02-28 06:25:00 When I think of the hours I used to spend tuning my Vincent BlackShadow, once at 1am in the morning getting it ready after a magneto problem in order to get to the Brighton Sprint meeting.
Then I used to like the sound of open pipes roaring, overlaid with tinkly high-lift cam sound.
We must have had exceptionally placid or deaf neighbours :)

328441 2005-02-28 06:33:00 I am borrowing a dB meter on friday to take some readings from houses and boundrys etc around the area.

I do wish to keep these neighbours happy, and we have come to an agreement, which i completly dislike, but it is everything he wanted. If later he comes back and says he wants to stop me riding even more I'll tell him to stick it, thats why i would like have some prior knowledge to ratings etc on what I can legally do, and what i cant.

My bike has a perfectly fine muffler, and even with the purchase of a new muffler, would make it even louder, due to the fact that a dirt bike is quietest in its stock form. For those who ride dirt bikes, you know what i mean.

If I dont ride on our own private property, where am i meant to ride?!? around the roads, peoples lawns...All of this causing a hazard to myself and others.

328442 2005-02-28 08:24:00 Normal country / suburban noises are just that, normal. The invasive noise of Dirt bikes being ridden around & around the same small circuit every afternoon for hours on end isn't.

The guy that drove my suburban neighborhood (& their dogs) mad riding his dirt bike on a 15 acre area surrounded by normal kiwi homes thankfully solved the problem himself. He broke his neck doing one of his endless high speed jumps. No, there wasn't any sympathy for him. None.

The main trunk line, milk factory, milk tankers & machine workshops etc around here are not a problem but he was.

hsv-b0y I wouldn't like to think that you ended up alienating your neighbors to such an extent that they would cheer if you ever got hurt. Please think carefully about what you are doing.

328444 2005-03-01 07:45:00 Sorry,
Yes it was harsh but the truth often is, that's how the neighbors felt. I never, ever want that happen again.
As I've said before, I love bikes and always have. Just don't alienate people with them please.

328445 2005-03-01 09:14:00 Thats beyond harsh into disgusting, would we be right to gloat if you broke your neck, your a mac fan after all,one of the most annoying breeds on the net.
