| 327708 | 2005-02-23 22:53:00 | I have a DVD r/w installed on my comp., but have not got around to installing any software for it. I do not own a single DVD disk. I have never used a DVD. So please bear this in mind if you answer my question. Can I use my comp. mounted DVD to record a program from my TV? I have A/V connectors on the TV. Where would I plug them into comp? In simple language can I use the DVD as a VCR? If I can , can I also play them back through my TV? Reason for asking is my VCR has died of old age and I don't think it's worth the expense of buying a new one to use once or twice a year. Jack :help: |

| 327709 | 2005-02-23 23:40:00 | Does your Video card have a Video In capability (not all do), or do you have a TV Card fitted? With Video In, and a program such as InterVideo WinCoder or similar (which should have come with the Video card if it supported Video In) you can capture the AV Video from the TV. Messy though, and you would normally record it to the HDD first and not direct to the DVD. |

| 327710 | 2005-02-23 23:47:00 | The winfast cards feature caputure direct to dvd (or cd), works far better then i expected, But then the cards have been getting constant refinment over the years and systems nowadays can do the required work without breaking a sweat. Playback on a standalone dvd player would require the ability to read an un-authored mpeg file though. |

| 327711 | 2005-02-23 23:54:00 | My video card is an Nvidia fx 5200. No TV card either. I do not have a "stand alone" dvd player either. What sort of money am I looking at to buy a video card with video in? Sounds like it might be cheaper to buy a VCR. Jack |
