326417 2005-02-19 05:24:00 Even if you dont have SETI@Home you can get a download link from the site

SETI@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). You can participate by running a free program that downloads and analyzes radio telescope data.

326423 2005-02-20 03:57:00 Does anyone know the site that is similar to SETI, but instead of trying to find alien messages, it is for finding new drugs / cures for diseases ? Strommer (42)
326424 2005-02-20 04:28:00 Does anyone know the site that is similar to SETI, but instead of trying to find alien messages, it is for finding new drugs / cures for diseases ?See the post above. ninja (1671)
326425 2005-02-20 04:28:00 I decided on Folding@Home as the results are available for all rather than the drug company ones who keep the results to themselves.

The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, remains a mystery. It is known that when proteins do not fold correctly, there can be serious effects, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (CJD), ALS, and Parkinson's disease. By running the Folding@Home client on your computer, your spare processing cycles can help find a cure for these diseases!
