643026 2008-02-24 02:29:00 I am using Windows XP and when starting my computer, the Windows background appears without any icons. When I reboot, the icons appear. Any suggestions as to what the problem is? ockerboy (11213)
643027 2008-02-24 02:43:00 Do you see the start button and taskbar/clock? Is the background your normal wallpaper or a default Windows one? What changes did you make to the system just prior to this starting eg installed new program. Jen (38)
643028 2008-02-24 03:24:00 Was that a one-off problem, ockerboy? Renmoo (66)

643031 2008-03-06 00:13:00 re Jen's questions:
The Start button and taskbar/clock do not show. The wallpaper is the Windows default which I normally show.
I cannot remember whether I installed a new program or not as this problem has been going on for several months. I have spoken to computer consultants about it but they do not have a solution.

643032 2008-03-06 00:47:00 What happens when you press the Start Key on the keyboard ( bottom left hand corner)- Does the start menu suddenly appear ? the other key combo is CTRL + ESC - if the menu appears go to the control panel / Taskbar and start menu / untick lock Taskbar and Auto Hide Taskbar if they are ticked.

To try for the desktop icons, right click the desktop / Arrange Icons By / Make sure " Show Desktop Icons" are ticked.

You can also try downloading This here (www.kellys-korner-xp.com) save it to your PC and simply double click the file, hopefully it will also fix the problem.
