329942 2007-09-18 01:48:00 I like heaps of the old rock/metal. My father was a huge fan so I grew up listening to lots. My mother sadly liked country music. My son loves metal etc and found this CD set for $14 or something from the warehouse called Welcome To Hell. It has sooo many different artists including some I had never heard of but he loves it. Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Megadeth, Killing Joke, Stray, The Saints, Deep Purple, War Horse, Vardis, Sammy Hagar, Queensryche and the list goes on and on. Not too heavy. We both admittedly like some of the newer more mainstream stuff but yeah .... its all good. Sometimes I feel like listening to some thrash but other days I like listening to Dr Hook so yeah its all about personal choices. :D

Yep I've heard of Iron Maiden and yep I use to quite like them but haven't listened to the for a while. My son (teen) likes them as well.

I do not like rap. I personally find it boring and talentless. :horrified Most clips these days are all about girls butts. Not much of a story there. I like music with substance and a storyline. Something I can relate too which is not wearing gold or silver braces, even if they have designs on them, nor wearing huge amounts of tacky looking jewelry and hooking up with other tacky people. Thumbs up for making braces cool though. lmfao!!!

329943 2007-09-18 02:19:00 hahaha nice post, I grew up on a healthy diet of black sabbath, acdc, led zep, deep purple, aerosmith etc when I hit the teens it was mainly heavy/thrash/speed metal but I find now I have almost gone full circle and dusted off the classics like deep purple etc.

As for rap, I dont even consider it a music form, more of a money spinner idea that got old fast. A fad. But i guess in saying that metal was looked at in the same way.

At least the majority of metal bands write their own music/lyrics and normally are self financed to a point. So in that respect metal bands have a lot more stories to tell, paid their own dues in full:2cents:
