| 329902 | 2005-03-03 08:14:00 | Im 15, I dont like rap at all, I would be very happy if Iron Maiden came to NZ, so saying that teenages dont like the old rock is indeed untrue...I know very many people who like it. | hsv-b0y (5210) | ||
| 329903 | 2005-03-03 09:15:00 | Remember the NZ beef add on tv that showed the heavy metal band backstage who were all a bunch of oldies. That could just as easily be the members of Iron Maiden, and I had four of their albums!!! Frankly we should listen to our albums instead of getting them to try and creak out a concert, since I was severly scarred after seeing what Ozzy turned into! |

| 329904 | 2005-03-03 09:28:00 | Ozzy has been an alcoholic and drug addict since his young teens,24 hours a day,7 days a week, and if you look at footage of him in his late teens he was a space cadet even then. Iron Maiden on the other hand are healthy, wealthy and wise, Serious about their craft and still put on a show that can't be touched by 99 percent of the bands around today. They are of course helped by the fact that showmanship and musicianship has been replaced by image and target marketing. No need for talent or skill when you have people trained in marketing. |

Your opinion on what makes rap / hip hop good is far different from a lot of people out there and your broadbrushed comments deserve the reaction I gave it. Lo. What opinion? Please Lhosing I value your input into this discussion. Enlighten me as to your opinion on the metal and rap music industry, i'm all ears. Your previous comment "oh dear" either says your are ignorant regarding the subject or that you didn't agree with what I sed. I anxiously await your reply. |

| 329906 | 2005-03-03 19:35:00 | I had never heard of Iron Maiden. What are they another bunch of untalented morons who can't afford to buy proper clothes, but happen to own a guitar. So they call themseves a band or whatever. Music died about twenty years ago. Jack    |

| 329908 | 2005-03-03 21:10:00 | Regarding Rap, It followed the same path as all other music, when it first appeared the "artists" had something to say, a new way of saying it and some fire in the bellies, it was for want of a better word real. The problem being that this real stuff doesnt go multi-platinum, A lot of what they said didn't sit well with the masses. And the quality of the product was 100% reliant on the performers talents and skill. Which is where the record industry steps in, Dumbs it down to the most basic level (girls and guns) and takes the creative process away from the performers, Which is how they can apply the business model to every new no talent hack they sign up to be flavour of the week. Instant cash. So now Rap is dumb on purpose, just like how rock n roll came screaming out of the 70's and was whored into the abomination of the 80's (hair bands). Even pop groups have been taken to new levels of stupidity, and what gets promoted as metal to the mainstream audience is just an insult to every single band thats ever stepped foot on a stage. Music is dumb, because thats what sells, that is what todays market wants in large numbers. Sure if you look deeper you can find the quality music, though its now made with little budget and none of the big name producers of the past that could add the extra spark and sound to a groups output, and of course you get a few rise up through the muck, As much as I would rather be skinned alive then be subjected to another whinge from M&M about his mother |

In fact, I believe the are the best . I'm a great fan of Led Zep . However they are not strictly a heavy metal band . More a type of blues derived rock . More mainstream - in the American rock style . But they are the originals and the leaders of that style . Bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana owe a lot to Led Zeppelin . Incidentally, the link provided by Powerslave is excellent . The quality of writing on the site is up to the standard of New Musical Express and Rolling Stone . |
