That's surely not right. Public radio, it's free to air, and paid for by advertising (normally). The people in question could go out to their cars and listen to it, what's the difference? I can understand the CD thing, although it's harsh, but radio? Almost every shop you go into has a radio playing.

643248 2008-02-25 00:00:00 Depending on the type of music they want to play, there is actually quite a bit of good free music out there, I've been getting most of mine from Jamendo (www.jamendo.com), but there are other good sites out there

From Jamendo I would recommend these

Rob Costlow (www.jamendo.com) - both Albums Modern Piano stuff
Alison Crowe (www.jamendo.com) - Blues soulsy chick singing
Juanitos (www.jamendo.com) - samba, blues funk, -- with songs like Funcula
Kiff'on (www.jamendo.com) - French disco funk -- Kung foo funky is my favourite song

Also this blog (http://freealbums.blogsome.com/) is a great source of free music, check the archives

Others i have in my frequently played list are
Ben othman
Okerville river
Bes imaginary band
Incognito traveller
Triplexity

most of the above are from Jamendo, but Okerville River you need to visit their site to get the album
