Enjoyment can be had by spotting threads with problems you know how to fix and watch it turn into a train wreck of bad advice knowing full well it'd be solved if you could post - reverse justice really. It also helps to highlight huge inconsistencies in moderation.

Yeah spot on. From what I've seen you can get banned for having a different opinion to any of the Nazi moderators. Or perhaps you said something in jest and a certain moderator thought it was being smart or abusive.

The interesting thing is the ban length seems to increase with each "offense". So offense #1 you get a 24hr ban, then 3day, then a week and so on. No proportional response, just exponential bans. Then you watch someone like godfather make personal slights and sarcasm in nearly every damn post and the moderators ignore it.

Feel free to try it yourself, I'd suggest one of the well known weekly threads would be a good place to start proceedings.

Good luck.

(and probably see you all in 24 hours :groan: )

ROFL   I say to the immature moderators: Gunkai! And get a life you facist nazis.

329692 2005-03-02 13:35:00 Calling the moderators Nazis isn't a good look for someone who's been here 2 days on his 4th post.
Have we met you before - or are you merely living dangerously?
Maybe time to re-read the rules you signed up to...?

329693 2005-03-02 19:46:00 A ban count would be a handy idea. You'd have to be able to bring them over from old/alternative user names, otherwise it would not give a true picture of how many notches... oops, I mean bans, you've got on your belt.... dang! I mean profile :D
I agree with the ban count.
It lets new members know that we are serious about keeping this a family forum
New members and current members could use this as a sign that the person is 'naughty'
By telling everyone that I have been banned so many times could be embarrassing, therefore making people think twice before posting

And of course, I expect someone to responde to these points i.e. you might be proud of the ban count, we register a new ID with no ban count and be considered 'un-naughty'.

Respond whatever you like, but within the rules of course. Don't want people experiencing a ban.

329696 2005-03-02 21:49:00 I agree with the ban count. There is no need for a ban count, the only ones that need to keep track of such things are the Admin/Moderators. A person's useful techncial advice shouldn't be disregarded or thought less of because they have been banned at some point. As long as they continue to stick to the rules and keep things nice, there isn't a problem.

I doubt very much that most who have been banned, would find any embarassement over it.

329697 2005-03-03 02:14:00 Sigh! My suggestion of a ban count was tongue in check, racking up notches was a dead gieway, or so I thought. Oh well, I'll just have to try harder next time. Murray P (44)

Jen, Chilling, I thought I'd bring this to your attentiion. It's in white so most people won't see it.

329700 2005-03-03 05:03:00 ROFL   I say to the immature moderators: Gunkai! And get a life you facist nazis. This is perfect example of why we have moderators ... because of behaviour of people just like you. I am perfectly capable of translating that comment. And hey! Guess what? You are now (again) going to experience being banned. Jen (38)
