329445 2005-03-02 05:12:00 I've read some stupid posts here in the past but this definately takes the cake!

Cerebral yes, stupid no.

"It would be easier to say the speed is equivalent to the speed of light, given current happenings.

In theory if you could travel at or greater than the speed of light, you would become invisible."

In theory you may be invisible but certainly quite dead. You would be pure energy.

329446 2005-03-02 06:15:00 but at the lowest level of physics what else are we ?.....there is no such thing as 'solid matter' or even infinitesimally small particles it all becomes energy waves...... drcspy (146)
329447 2005-03-02 06:23:00 In one current theory, strings. In another, loops.... TonyF (246)

Quite a peaceful thought really.

So energy is dead?

329450 2005-03-02 08:09:00 I've read some stupid posts here in the past but this definately takes the cake! Not really, everyone seems to be enjoying the pondering of the question and it is posted in the correct forum where quote: "The general and "off topic" discussion area." ;)

If you want to make some input into this thread, make it a tad more positive without calling the post stupid for starters ...

329451 2005-03-02 08:23:00 Warning - adult material ahead!

I'm reminded of a couple of limericks:

There was a young lady called Bright,
Who travelled much faster than light,
She started one day in the usual way,
And came back the previous night.

There was a young lover called Fisk,
Who at f*****g was mightily brisk.
So fast was his action,
The Fitzgerald Contraction
Foreshortened his tool to a disk.

I just thought it was time to raise the level of intellectual input a bit...

329452 2005-03-02 10:51:00 "So energy is dead?"
In the purest sense I suppose not.
but
without sex and beer you might as well be

329453 2005-03-02 12:01:00 As opposed to Veale, I think that this is a great thread.
The fact that I don't understand most of what you guys are saying in it is immaterial.
It's a brain-stretcher - albeit in fun.
Good for all of us to consider something we wouldn't otherwise have even thought about.
(Yes, Tony & the Highlander, I did understand your bits)
Actually, I predict there are enough physicists & general everything-ists in PF1 for this thread to have a long & happy life.

329454 2005-03-02 20:27:00 So energy is dead?

e=mc2

Energy and mass are two sides of the same coin . Or perhaps the better illustration is that they exist at opposite ends of a track . At absolute rest, you are all mass . Why are you not suprised? :o

As you accelerate, your mass begins to change into energy, until at C, your body mass is pure energy . And its unlikely you'd be alive in the conventional sense .

Think of mass as frozen energy because that is what it is .

There is an excellent book on the subject for anyone interested . amazon . com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0425181642/103-1762820-6287859" target="_blank">www . amazon . com Available from Whitcoulls .
