328900 2005-03-01 09:17:00 Absolutely Tom. Hoss (Dan Blocker) is there in all his glory. So far as I can recall, he died of a heart attack at 40. I'd just like to add that I've recieved a private message from GF asking if he can borrow it. :D Winston001 (3612)

328903 2005-03-02 01:52:00 But GF got it wrong, unusually. ;) The purpose of DVD region coding is to make lawyers rich. Graham L (2)

328905 2005-03-02 21:22:00 I've found a few discussion groups from 3 years back which said it was law for NZ players to play multiple zones. Is that true? Or was it true once?

>It has been a requirement in New Zealand that all
>players sold must be multizone for over a year now.

328906 2005-03-02 21:38:00 I don't know if it was NZ law but the Australians took the approach that it restricted consumer choice. NZ probably gets similar models to Aus. PaulD (232)

"It's quite legal to sell region free players in australia, it's just not if your a maker of DVD players and you signed a contract with the CSS mob, the Chinese on the other hand just stuck their collective finger up at the CSS group"

The big players have signed contracts, and then sell their players via a 3rd party who hasn't signed a contract (who modifies it). Zensonic are saying they'll release their new player in Australia and NZ and it will be region locked... hence my original question of whether there is a law that it's multi-region in NZ....

:)

Guess that they won't sell many when the word gets out :-)

Anyway, that's the main reason I asked the question here - if NZ requires (or allows) multiregion players then they'll produce it - just Australian law is working against them.
