330299 2005-03-03 21:17:00 OK Guys,
Silly me at a school function opened my big mouth and has now found myself on a list for the school fundraising committee.

Thinking about it this could be a good thing but I am now racking my brain for ideas to raise funds without resorting to the usual BBQ at the warehouse or selling things to parents that they don't need and really cannot afford.

I need ideas on ways to raise funds for the school.

330300 2005-03-03 21:35:00 Poor you - I had my fair share of these some years ago and unfortunately the BBQ and selling things to parents seem to work very well. Also worth investigating is arranging a concert or show with some of the rappers that the young ones listen to these days - we made quite a mint on that, although we hated the noise (you can't call it music)

330303 2005-03-04 00:37:00 Thats a toughie. Personally we've found that selling sausages outside The Warehouse in Invercargill on Easter Saturday and Waitangi Day etc to be the best and easiest all up. Winston001 (3612)
330304 2005-03-04 00:54:00 have a motorbike trial, eg $25 for entry and then have a bbq at halfway and at the end with some cold beer. Prescott (11)
330305 2005-03-04 01:00:00 Depends how much you want to make! A few years ago we ran a sweepstake for the Stockcar Club; tickets were $20 per month for 10 months. Each month there was a draw, can't remember exactly how much but approx $1500 1st prize, $1000 2nd prize and $500 3rd prize. The final draw was $10,000 for 1st prize, $5,000 for 2nd prize and $2,500 for 3rd prize. You'll have to do the numbers and find something that works, but this worked well.

Was a bit of work selling tickets but was pretty easy, after all, selling is just a numbers game...and the fact that they could pay monthly AND there was a limit of 200 tickets (from memory) made it work well.

We had a few defaults but we made $22k or $24k out of a possible $32k. Like I said, you'll have to check the numbers to make sure it will work for you, as this was a while ago and I am not exactly sure of our numbers.

Cheers

330308 2005-03-04 11:20:00 If your committee publishes a newsletter or something, you could write to, or preferably go to, somone like Griffins foods, and ask them for a donation of a case of chips or biscuits or something, in return for an advert or sponsorship message in the newsletter, and sell the stuff at school.
