643258 2008-02-25 01:46:00 Its a friends computer .. it has been suggested to them that their computer is being monitored by NZ coppers. Is there anyway of telling if this is happening .. is there any way of stopping it/blocking it?? Lovelee (6586)

Exactly! :D

If they're being 'monitored', it's probably on their web traffic, so I think that's done in conjunction with the individual's ISP's.

Don't think the Police are using bots & zombies yet are they?

643261 2008-02-25 02:14:00 Nope, lol.

If they are being monitored, it's probably for a good reason.

If they haven't done anything wrong, stay away from the torrents and kiddie porn, and they should be sweet.

643262 2008-02-25 02:16:00 Hes had a small weed arrest. Nothing big .. does that mean their isp has been advised?? Is there nothing they can do except take care in emails?? Web traffic?? do u mean checking the places they go to online .. or everything msn and chat included? Lovelee (6586)
643263 2008-02-25 02:18:00 torrents? like limewire .. is that illegal full stop .. or only if you are burning and selling on? Lovelee (6586)
643264 2008-02-25 02:24:00 torrents? like limewire .. is that illegal full stop .. or only if you are burning and selling on?

LimeWire isn't torrents, although you can use the latest version to download torrents. It's only illegal if you download illegal material, and I'm really not sure how your ISP could ping you for downloading with LimeWire, although I'm sure theres a way...torrents as long as you use packet encryption it isn't a problem, its the actual visiting of the sites that is, the only reason I said that was it would be better, if they are being monitored, that they don't do anything else dodgy lol.

So pretty much ignore what I said as it was really off-topic. :o

643265 2008-02-25 03:36:00 Its a friends computer . . it has been suggested to them that their computer is being monitored by NZ coppers .

Well unless thay've taken to installing keyloggers, and unless he has an unsecured wireless connection, I fail to see how they can monitor anything except perhaps emails .

And I would imagine his ISP would have to tell him if he asked .

Weed huh . . . . . . . . . . well I've heard it makes you paranoid . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
