332037 2005-03-09 00:58:00 I'm looking at trading up my very old 027 for a new 021, for home, as i alrady have a 027 thats up 2 date...

But i wanna take advantage of the deal, you get one free or $300 off a upper line one...

Only issue is...I want PXT and Video TXT..

Dicks Smith is advertising the Nokia 3220 to have Recording and Play video clips....i assumed that meant record and play..not send...so I asked....he said yes you can send...i was ok...but wanted to see what the source says, so checked vodafone's website...that phone only has intergrated Camera...no mention about video??

So who do I follow? Or should I go a step further and ring Vodafone?

332038 2005-03-09 01:06:00 I would ring Vodafone just to make sure. Sometimes I don't trust people at
Dickies.

332039 2005-03-09 01:15:00 Dicksmiths is wrong. The nokia 3220 does not record videos or send vidoes. It cannot play videoes too.

If i remember correctly Nokia 6600,Nokia,6100,6230,6260,6170,6670,6630,7200,7610 ,3230,9300,9500,7260,7280,7270 all play, record send and receive videos.
If you do buy nokia 3220 don't buy the enhancement which is the xpress air messaging. Its a waste of money. You can wave thru the air and it will display the words that you typed on the mobile but the words which glows during the wave lasts like 1 second!!

332040 2005-03-09 01:19:00 YEa ahh I know all these cos i sell mobiles online.Anyway any questions giz a shout!!I would say the cheapest mobile by vodafone that has video compable is 6230 .I had that for about 3 months .IT was an official mobile whichy I bought from Nokia hk.It has many bugs like the mobile would freeze when I enter gprs connection,Battery indicator wouldn't drop until when the battery is 3/4 flat.Had a bit of problems retrieving email. The connection won't refresh.I had to restart the mobile in order to connect back to gprs to retrieve my email. 332042 2005-03-09 01:23:00 Vodafone has confirmed it does have video recording/sending capability...
and i've recorded the call....so if its incorrect then they're in trouble,,,

mmm maybe they've updated the phone?
csinclair83 (200)
332043 2005-03-09 03:07:00 You can always check the Nokia website. PaulD (232)
332044 2005-03-09 19:06:00 and i've recorded the call....so if its incorrect then they're in trouble,,,You're kidding right? Did you inform the person you spoke with that you were doing so, just as they would have to if they elected to record you?

Jeez this place really gets the whole spectrum. Anyway I was under the impression you were deaf, how did you call them? Or are you relying on 3rd hand information from someone else?

Edit: I can't see anything about this phone doing any video at all, though I don't see what kind of "trouble" you expect because their call centre staff didn't know all the features of a phone, which their in store sales staff are their to sell you. It's not like they can integrate the feature to the phone just to placate you.

332045 2005-03-09 19:55:00 It is clearly described for the Nokia 3220 on the website including an interactive tutorial on taking video clips.

332046 2005-03-09 20:10:00 Telecom require voice recorders to have this warning:
"All persons using this device for recording telephone conversations shall comply with New Zealand law. This requires that at least one party to the conversation is to be aware that it is being recorded. In addition, the Principles enumerated in the Privacy Act 1993 shall be complied with in respect to the nature of the personal information collected, the purpose for its collection, how it is used and what is disclosed to any other party."

Lawyers might argue but details of Nokia performance don't seem to be "personal information"

According to the Nokia AP site the 3220 is video capable. GSM is very standardised, the NZ 3220 should be the same.
