No Signal, the monitor wont turn on, The CPU fan spins for only a second or two, No POST ( beeps) PC wont turn Off by power Button . If you get no beeps with the RAM out - the boards not getting to the point of looking for RAM . A CPU fan will still run even if the CPU is fried - WHY ? because its power coming from the PSU through the board to the fan . The PSU, video card and case fans are spinning . Some power is getting through but not all, so a circuit on the board could be damaged but not enough coming through to make it work . How I would test - remove RAM turn on if no beeps turn off . Try another PSU just in case its faulty . Remove Board From case and put on the anti static workbench, connect the PSU . Remove all unnecessary components to make the board POST, dont need HD, Floppy, Optical and in this case since you said it had On bard Graphics, the Card as well . Only things connected would be CPU/RAM/ Keyboard/mouse/monitor to onboard graphics . If the CPU fan still wont turn on, that along with the fact the power button wont turn off the PC is enough to get a RMA (warranty Claim) . The board would have to be claimed back through who ever you got it from . It would be best to have a Computer tech look and test for you, they would be more likely to be " trusted" than a non- Computer Tech . I mean a person/ repair shop who does this for a living, not a person who just knows about computers . The board would be sent back to the NZ agents/ repair center, tested and should replaced as long as there is no obvious physical damage . |

Anyway, I removed both the sticks of RAM and booted up, I didn't get any POST. Unfortunately, I don't have any other PSUs to test it on (aside from an old 250W PSU which I haven't turned on in 6 years ). I'll look around for a tech that won't burn a whole in my pocket for now. :D Most probably looks like I'm gonna have to get this replaced. >.> |

All you want to do is get the motherboard to post, not play some power-intensive game. For the purposes of testing, it should do the job. That is assuming the old PSU will actually start |

If your motherboard does require this, then I would be surprised if the old PSU you have has this connector | Myth (110) | ||
| 643698 | 2008-02-26 20:40:00 | Yep you're right my motherboard requires this square 4 pin connector on the top left connector and this rectangular one in the middle which I can't seem to find on my old PSU. :/ | jason_f90 (3544) | ||

If your motherboard does require this, then I would be surprised if the old PSU you have has this connector I had a very similar fault on a mates machine a year or two back but as i recall it never got to "power made good" and the CPU fan would just spin a couple of turns and the whole machine would close down. Case Fans everything. And that was the little square yellow & black lead floating around not connected. Hooked that back up and away she went. I think the Mother Boards needs to tell the power supply all is well within a few milliseconds otherwise the power supply shuts down. However, I note in this case there are Fans running which makes a difference. |
