2008-02-26 10:30:00 | When I'm surfing the net and come back to the desktop screen to disconnect the internet my PC Freezes for 55 seconds, the clock stops and I cannot do anything, the only thing that works is the mouse, I'm still connected to the internet, after 55 seconds I can come off the net.I cannot select any programmes at all during the 55 seconds. I'm running Win xp Home and Outlook Express 6. After 55 seconds everything works fine again. When I'm not on line everything works fine. I can remember about 5 years ago deleting something and fixing this problem but I have forgotton what I had to delete. Perhaps you can help me Thanks Ray

2008-02-26 21:51:00 | I have exactly the same problem - also running XP Home and Outlook Express 6. Am on Broadband and do regular and in-depth malware scans etc. Have similar freeze delay (sometimes longer) but this does not seem to happen every time I disconnect from the internet. Would love to find a fix for this as 55 seconds can seem like an eternity some times!! | Dadzka (6620) | |

2008-02-27 09:05:00 | I wouldnt put this on the net, with no Service pack installed Run HJT again, tick these then tick fix checked Close browser/s. These are safe but dont have to be in startup Or use ccleaner and delete their entries under tools/startup. Or wait for SP3 to come out. I wouldnt run so many antispyware programs. Uninstall Ad-aware, PC tools, or counterspy.

2008-02-27 19:18:00 | Thanks Speedy - will do as suggested but don't think this will fix the problem (we shall see). You suggest uninstalling ALL versions of Java but the links in your sig in relation to Java seem to be for downloading and installing Java. Do I need to install an updated version of Java or am I looking at the wrong link? Cheers
Dadzka (6620) | ||
2008-02-27 19:29:00 | Thats what I mean, you have to uninstall all versions of Java, and install the latest version. Under the here link SP1, 2 or 3 will be better than no SP at all. If you have a SIS based mobo this can also lag your system, and things stop and start all the time. I had one, in the end I biffed it and got another
