331687 2005-03-07 16:19:00 This has had me bemused since pf1 changed to the new system. So I thought i'd ask.
Under "User profiles" there is a statement "xxx is not a member of any public group"
What the hell is a "public group"? And how do Bruce & co. know I am not a member of a public group.

Why do you always act like everything you don't understand is something specifically against you?

It's a feature of vBulletin not used here. It can be used to group people into contacts for mailing, or access to specific restricted forums/features etc. That's WHAT THE HELL IT IS.

331693 2005-03-08 03:05:00 Good question, Jack.
I've been wondering that too.

ninja:
Not everyone knows this VBulletin stuff. Why would they - if PF1 is their only forum?

331694 2005-03-08 03:50:00 vBulletin is complicated. it's like that

all it means that if the administrator has set any public groups (IE Linux users etc) that anyone can join, that person has not joined any

331695 2005-03-08 04:06:00 So when it says that xxxx dosen't belong to any public groups he may belong to 100 of them?
Makes sense????
Jack

331696 2005-03-08 04:16:00 No. It just means that the user hasn't joined any public groups (if any)

He/she could however, be a member of 100 private groups (IE Moderators, Support, Website, Admins etc)
