330979 2005-03-05 10:11:00 Hey,

I got a nice Gtran 4020 from an ex-rentals bin at a Telecom store (along with loads of other phones and stuff, all working nicely).

But I don't have a battery or charger for it.

I managed to get some other phones charging off various homemade devices (including 5v rail of my PSU).

But this is a bit harder to wire up to. I can't seem to find access to a battery or charger anywhere.

Anyway, if anyone has time, this phone and a multimeter, can ya do me a favour? Measure the battery voltages, tell me which terminals of it are the power, and what polarity it is.

If anyone has an unwanted charger for this phone, I would be very interested - cheers.

330980 2005-03-05 18:18:00 Charging batteries using the wrong charger can be VERY dangerous - Godfather will have more details I think, but I wouild strongly advise against home-made chargers unless you know exactly what you're doing. somebody (208)
330981 2005-03-05 20:39:00 That's not my idea - I want to hook up a battery of a different phone to it, to check for sure that it works before buying a battery/charger. george12 (7)
330982 2005-03-05 22:11:00 Dunno if this what you want or not but here goes
3.7v Li-Polymer Battery
I can post a pic if you want (shows the polarities)
Looking at the back of the phone: neg. on left, pos. on right
I have a spare charger & battery from my sons broken phone, but due to the cost of replacing them I'm hanging on to them in case I break mine

330983 2005-03-06 02:13:00 Cheers mate, I'll try putting 3.7v across how you said, and see what happens.

Edit: The pic(s) would be most helpful if that's not an inconvenience.

330984 2005-03-06 03:02:00 Yuss, the phone works. Hooked up 3.6v from a Nokia battery to it (soldered wires to it), and it turns on and says "No Battery". Because, I have just given it the voltage and nothing else (the other two pins obviously). But it's ALIVE which means it's worth getting a battery and charger somehow. george12 (7)
330985 2005-03-06 04:28:00 Oh - I see. In that case it's not so much of an issue. somebody (208)
