Is it a legal CD, as a CD shouldn't be using any compressed format.

644574 2008-02-28 03:51:00 sorry i got the wording wrong. he had it on his flashdrive and he gave it to me. he has the real cd though and he got it off his brother. he gave it to me because it was protected to see if i can unprotect it and he gave it in wma format. nerd (109)
644575 2008-02-28 03:52:00 If it is in wma then iTunes wont read it - you need to download a wma - mp3 converter vitalstatistix (9182)
644576 2008-02-28 03:55:00 but the songs are protected though and itunes itself is a converter as well. the songs wont even let me put lyrics on them! nerd (109)

iTunes will only convert non DRMd.wma files on the fly when importing from Windows Media player libraries. For other DRMd .wma files you need to burn them to CD first to remove the DRM then import them.

Try this

I googled the problem

644578 2008-02-28 04:29:00 Load the Flash Drive / copy the music to your PC, Import the songs into Windows media Player - burn the songs as a music CD, then rerip them back off to either wma or MP3, making sure under the Ripping settings you Untick Copy protect (www.imagef1.net.nz). That way you have a CD as well :D wainuitech (129)

Doesn't that mean your burning a lossy format song onto CD then burning back onto another lossy format? Quality loss?

Yep - but better than no music at all! :p

644581 2008-02-28 04:52:00 The other way is to get the original CD and Rip it as per the suggestion above.
Isn't MS nice to provide the Software inbuilt to remove the protection on protected Music CD's
